All of the cool kids are doing it, and now it’s time for you to create a welcome video for your home page as well. But what do you say in it?!
The number one thing you need to keep in mind is that the sole purpose of your home page is to start a conversation with your visitor. So the main call to action is for them to enter their email in order to get your free gift. Everything else is secondary to that, so your welcome video should also be crafted to entice them to “opt in”.
So here is a structure that you can use for your video script that introduces what you do, while also making opting in for your free offer irresistible! (along with examples so you can see how this would work in action!)
1. Introduce Yourself (Duh ;))
Start your video by telling viewers your name and your brand promise. Your brand promise is the number one result that clients get from working with you, and it spans across all of your offerings.
“Hey there, Holly Chantal here, the founder of the Land of Brand and I help coaches create brilliant brands that express their personality and position them strategically in the market place.”
The shorter you can get this the better, if you an bring it down to one sentence then you will be cool as a cucumber.
2. Introduce the Challenge
This is where you call upon a common challenge that they may be facing in their lives or business, that you intend to solve with your opt in offer.
“There are tens of thousands of coaches out there, and thousands of them are doing exactly what you are and so you get lost in the noise. “
3. Why You “Get” Them
It’s easy to tell them the problem that they’re having, and you also want to show that you understand them and that you’re the best person to help them get the results that they are looking for.
This could mean that you’ve had a similar experience and overcome it, that you’ve had special training working with this particular issue, or even that many of your clients have experienced the same things and you’ve been able to get them amazing results.
“I’m a coach just like you, and when I started out I quickly realized that I was a VERY small fish in a humungous pond. There seemed to be so many other coaches that were using the same language as me, promising the same results, and to be honest … they looked a lot better doing it!
My business shifted when I realized that even though competition is high, I bring something very different to the table, and that is my personality. When I started to infuse my personality into my brand I started attracting amazing clients that really resonated with my message. And working with those clients inspired me to hone my message and find what was really unique not just about my brand but what I do and how I work with clients.
Now I enjoy helping others do the same thing, build brands that reflect who they are and that showcase their uniqueness so that they can own their niche.”
In this part of the video, it’s very easy to start babbling so be careful not to start telling your life’s story, or giving multiple examples of why you can relate. It is very easy to lose people’s attention so you want to make sure that everything you’re saying is in direct relation to the problem they are experiencing right now, and that it leads into how you are going to help them.
4. Your Offering
Now for the most important part! Telling your visitor how you are going to help them right now, essentially for free.
During this part of your video you want to tell your viewer the results they will get after partaking of this offer.
“Now it’s your time to let go of brand embarrassment and start building a brand that truly represents you and connects with prospects.
To help you get started with this right away, I’ve created a 3 part video ecourse for you, and it’s absolutely free!
- In the first video you will learn the 3 pillars of your online personal brand. Without these three things you can kiss all of your handwork goodbye, and the first one will really surprise you.
- In the second video I’ll show you what it takes to strategically position yourself in the market place so you stand out from the tens of thousands of coaches out there.
- And in the third video I’ll reveal the only two types of promotion strategies that you need to focus on.”
My offer here is a 3 part series so I give one benefit from each video. If your offer is an eBook, a checklist, or something else that is “one and done” you can just give 3 benefits that they will get from your offering. You don’t necessarily have to use the number 3, I just like it because it keeps the script short while still conveying high value.
5. Your Call to Action
And of course, there is the last step. Your call to action that is going to get them to opt in for your offer. It’s a pretty simple diddy that goes a little like this:
“Getting started is easy, all you have to do is enter your name and email address and I’ll send you your first video.”
This was a pretty brief overview for how to structure your welcome video, and I hope it helps at least a little bit.
